Australians have expressed interest in retaining an American law firm which is considering taking legal action over the crash of a plane in Yogyakarta in Indonesia 10 days ago. The San Francisco-based law firm, Lieff Global, specialises in representing the survivors and families of victims who have died in international aviation and maritime accidents.
The firm has already been retained by Indonesians considering legal action
over the crash 10 days ago, which killed five Australians. Lieff Global
associate Brian Lawler says Australians have expressed interest in retaining
his firm.
"Just because we have been retained by clients does not mean we are automatically going forward with filing a lawsuit," he said. Mr Lawler says he will wait until crash investigation results are known before deciding whether to pursue legal action.
