WFMZTv.com, "Pilot Took Wrong Runway in Plane Crash"
The
sole survivor of a commuter plane crash in Lexington, Kentucky
is in critical condition
this morning. Comair jet co-pilot James Polehinke was
the only survivor pulled from the
burning wreckage of a crash that killed 49 people yesterday.
The plane crashed after
attempting to take off from a runway that was too short
for commuter planes. A witness
described what he saw.
A witness said, "I just looked
around and I saw over the hillside, I saw, the flash of
light and then the explosion. And then just a big plumb
of smoke came up."
The National
Transportation Safety Board has recovered the plane's black box recorders and
hopes they will show why the pilot took the wrong runway.
