(FAA) is responsible for the safety of civil aviation.
The FAA's major roles include regulating civil aviation,

Safety Board (NTSB) is an independent Federal agency
charged by Congress with investigating every civil aviation

aimed at preventing future accidents.

Aviation Safety and Security Program - In response
to the recommendations of the White House Commission
on Aviation Safety and Security in 1997, NASA created
the Aviation Safety Program to research and develope
technologies focused on the National goal of reducing
the fatal aircraft accident rate by 80% by 2007. Site
