Robert L. Lieff is the principal guiding force in the development of Lieff Global, LPP. Lieff Global grew out of the rapid expansion of the international and aviation practices at Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein, LLP, which Mr. Lieff founded in 1972.

Described by The American Lawyer as "one of the nation’s premier plaintiffs firms," Lieff Cabraser is one of the largest plaintiffs law firms in the world, with over 60 lawyers and 200 employees in San Francisco, New York and Nashville. For the past four years, The National Law Journal selected Lieff Cabraser as one of the top plaintiff law firms in the United States, a recognition only two other plaintiffs law firms have received.

Mr. Lieff supervised the mass torts practice group at Lieff Cabraser which successfully prosecuted verdicts and settlements in excess of $10 billion in the Sulzer hip and knee implant, silicon breast implants and Fen Phen litigation. Mr. Lieff played a leading role in landmark cases including the Exxon Valdez oil spill, Holocaust litigation and National Tobacco Settlement.

Since 2001, Mr. Lieff has focused his practice on representing nearly two-thousand plaintiffs from 24 countries with hemophilia that contracted HIV from contaminated blood factor products, leading the aviation department at Lieff Cabraser, and developing an international network of lawyers that meet annually outside the United States at the Global Justice Forum.

Mr. Lieff remains Of Counsel to Lieff Cabraser Heimann & Bernstein, LLP, with whom Lieff Global, LLP, maintains a close partnership. Mr. Lieff has represented plaintiffs in domestic and international aviation disasters for over forty years.

Mr. Lieff served on the Board of Visitors, Columbia Law School, 1992-2004, and the California Commission on Access to Justice, Governor's Appointment, 2000. He has also been recognized as a Northern California Super Lawyer in 2005 and 2006.
